PalmSource Joins the Consumer Electronics Linux Forum
- PalmSource has joined the Consumer Electronics Linux Forum (CELF).
- The CELF is an open standards-based consortium of industry-leading companies aimed at encouraging adoption of Linux for the development of consumer electronics devices.
- PalmSource has joined the CELF as an Associate member.

Palm OS to get Gigabyte NAND Flash Support
- Samsung announced that it has reached agreement with PalmSource to work together to port Samsung NAND Flash software into the Palm OS Cobalt and future releases of the Palm operating system.
- Also, M-Systems announced plans to collaborate with PalmSource to provide Palm OS support for its 2 gigabyte MLC NAND-based DiskOnChip H series storage solution.

palmOne Reports Fourth Profitable Quarter in a Row
- It had revenue of $285.3 million for the quarter, up approximately 18 percent from the revenue reported during the comparable quarter a year ago.
- Net income was $4.4 million, or 9 cents per diluted share.
- Profit would have been higher, but palmOne had to take a considerable charge to pay for the severance package of its departing CEO.
- Still, it is far better than the same quarter of 2004, during which the company lost $9.3 million, or 20 cents a share.

Mystery Treo Images Surface
- The images were first posted on a forum thread at TreoCentral
- HTC is the contracted manufacturer of the Treo 650 and builds other phones as well.

Zire 73 Mention on Internet Store
- The palmOne Zire 73 is listed as a compatible model for a slim leather case on Buy.com.
- Nothing else is known at this time.

GSPDA Launches Xplore Palm OS Smartphones in N. America
- Internally, all three of the devices are quite similar. They run Palm OS Garnet (5.4) and have 64 MB of RAM.
- Each includes a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth short-range wireless networking. They support MP3 and MPEG4 for audio and video-capturing and playback.
- They use 2.2-inch touchscreens with a resolution of 160 by 220 pixels.
- The Xplore M28 uses a tablet configuration, and its front plate slides up to reveal a numberpad
- The Xplore M68 uses the standard candybar design
- The M98 uses a clamshell design

- Tapwave have released a public beta for their new WiFi driver for Wifi cards with 256Mb memory. The improvements include:
- Better and faster performance
- Support for SanDisk 256Mb WiFi card

- Auto connect capability

DateBk 6 Coming Out Mid Summer
- I had a conversation with Stewart Dewar, the owner/developer of the VERY popular DateBk series software.
- He said that DateBk 6 should be out sometime this summer and should include a number of improvements, including an updated interface (fancy buttons, etc.)
- IMNSHO DateBk is one of the best written Palm OS products out on the market today.
