Access Linux Platform Shown at LinuxWorld
Linux is the core of the new operating system and ALP is based on the version 2.6.12 of the Linux kernel. ALP contains a number of programming options for developers. There are four main options available:
1. MAX Applications (the native ALP interface)
2. Palm OS 68k Emulation layer
3. GTK+ (native linux like environment)
4. J2ME (Java Virtual Machine)

[Rumor] Treo 700p to be released May 15th on Sprint

Palm sold more Treos than all its other handhelds during the last financial quarter.
- 564,000 vs 510,000
- A year earlier 659,000 handhelds were shipped, 149,000 more than this year.
- Good numbers for Palm, not so good for "pure" PDAs.
- Treos produced 70% of Palm's profit for the quarter.
- Palm still plans to release three more Treos this year, says Palm Prez and CEO Ed Colligan.

Treo 700w gets free update for "push" email and calendar
- Allows automatic wireless updates of email, calendar, contacts and tasks.
- IT managers to deliver this information directly from Exchange Server 2003 SP2 without incurring additional third-party infrastructure costs.

The mysterious "third" product category is still being planned, according to Jeff Hawkins.
- It wasn't/isn't the LifeDrive Mobile Manager line.
- It will be some sort of mobile device with advanced multimedia capabilities.

Is Palm Building their own OS?
- Palm IS committed to Palm OS 5
- Palm hasn't made any commitment to use Access/PalmSource Linux OS.

Wichita Schools Standardize on the Palm TX
- Wichita Public Schools is standardizing on the wireless Palm TX handheld computer for its seventh-grade technology program
- Nearly 730 Palm TX handhelds purchased
- Part of a major renovation of its technology curriculum for middle schools.

Humane Society Adopts Treo Smartphones
- the nation's largest animal-protection organization relies on Treo smartphones, Bluetooth headsets and messaging software from Good Technology.
