- We mentioned this last month, but take note of the phone in the photos
- The phone is a Haier linux smartphone.
- It is solely being used for demonstration purposes
- Haier is not a licensee or involved with ALP
- However, it DOES illustrate that with the next version of the Palm OS, we could see some new styles of phones!
- Right now it's the Treo candybar shape and nothing else.

[RUMOR] No New Palm Handhelds This Spring?
More On Palm Numbers
- Last month, we talked about Gartner's Report on PDA sales for Q1 2006
- According to Gardner, Palm down 25%, HP-30%, Dell-34%
- However, Gartner doesn't count Treos as PDAs. They're "smartphones."
- Palm PDA sales-460,000. Treo sales-581,000. Total units=1,041,000.
- In other words, 56% of Palm's units sold aren't "PDAs" and don't count.
- 20% of Treos were 700w's.
- Total "PDA" sales just over 3.6 million, up 6.6%.
- According Gartner market research group, Palm Inc. has no plans to release any new conventional PDAs or handheld devices for "several months".
- This would be a deviation from Palm's traditional Spring/Fall new handheld release strategy.
