Palm releases new GPS Navigator SmartPhone Edition 3
- $299
- Supports all current Treos
- GPS Navigator SmartPhone Edition 2 is now discontinued and discounted to $278, with additional $50 rebate available.
- Edition 2 has been updated to work with all current Treos, also.
Palm Desktop on Windows Vista
- Installs and syncs built-in PIM info
- Third-party apps on the install CD may not work with Vista
- Palm Quick Install is NOT compatible
- LifeDrive software is NOT compatible
- Help files (.hlp) in some versions may not work in Vista
- Palm is continuing to try to update more of its software
Exchange ActiveSync Direct Push update
- For 680 and 700p only and available now
- Already supported on Windows Mobile-powered Treos
- Gives "push" email capability to 680 and 700p
- Also allows "push" of contact and calendar changes or additions
- Requires Exchange server 2003 with ActiveSync software update
Treo 680 cradle incompatibilities
- Has slightly different Multiconnector than previous Treos
- Problems if used with older Palm Treo Cradles (part # 180-10022-00, Rev. A or
- Reduced battery life
- Instability in the 680's operations
- Sleep mode inoperability
- Must use Rev. C or later cradles to avoid problems
